How have the 'Caps fared in Wednesday matches?

Huddle vs. RSL 2018

VANCOUVER, BC – On Wednesday night at BC Place, Vancouver Whitecaps FC will face San Jose Earthquakes in their first midweek match of 2018 (7:30 p.m. PT on TSN1/5 and TSN 1040 – tickets still available). This got us thinking: how have the ‘Caps fared in Wednesday matches in recent history?

The answer: pretty darn good.

Over the last two seasons, Whitecaps FC are 5W-1L-2D on Wednesdays in Major League Soccer play, including a 3W-1L-1D record in 2017, which may say something about the depth on the roster as midweek games typically involve a certain amount of squad rotation.

Or, it may be a complete coincidence. We’ll let you be the judge.

As you can see below, the ‘Caps also have a winning record on Wednesdays since Carl Robinson and his staff took charge in 2014.

Whitecaps FC will play just two MLS matches on Wednesdays this season – the other is set for October 17 against Sporting Kansas City.
