Members of Canada's 1986 FIFA World Cup team to be welcomed at Canada Day match

VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC will welcome members of Canada’s 1986 FIFA World Cup team to BC Place this coming Sunday, July 1 when the ‘Caps take on Colorado Rapids on Canada Day.


Led by head coach Tony Waiters, 13 members from the team will be recognized on the field before kickoff.


Prior to the match, Victoria’s George Pakos will lead the Southsiders’ March to the Match from Victory Square to BC Place at 2:45 p.m. PT. Pakos, who hails from Victoria, BC, was a hero for Canada in qualifying for the 1986 World Cup, scoring in both of the final round matches against Honduras.
