Northwest Territories academy

Vancouver Whitecaps FC have partnered with the Northwest Territories Soccer Association to launch an official Whitecaps FC Academy Centre program. Boys and girls U-9 to U-14 have the opportunity to participate in the program with limited spots available.
The Academy programming will be led by Vancouver-based Whitecaps FC coaching staff, with the main goal to help develop a stronger connection to the soccer community in Yellowknife and the surrounding areas.
“We’re looking for motivated players who want to take their game to the next level,” said Marinos Papageorgopoulos, Whitecaps FC Academy Centre director. “In addition to the Academy in the Northwest Territories, players who are excelling will have opportunities to be identified to participate in various High Potential Player (HPP) events in the future.”
“NWT Soccer is very excited to be able to partner with Whitecaps FC to bring this calibre of programming to the Northwest Territories,” added Lyric Sandhals, executive director of NWT Soccer.
The first Academy event will take place from October 12 to 14 at the Yellowknife Fieldhouse facility. The initial launch will include five training sessions and one classroom session.
The Academy provides supplemental training for motivated boys and girls in a professional club environment. To be eligible to participate, all players must be registered with the Northwest Territories Soccer Association for the upcoming 2018-19 season.
