Major League Soccer announced today that an Independent Panel has denied Vancouver Whitecaps FC’s appeal of the red card issued to forward Kei Kamara for violent conduct in the 90+ minute of Vancouver’s match against Sporting Kansas City on October 17.

Kamara will serve his red-card suspension in Vancouver’s next match on October 21 against Los Angles Football Club (LAFC), and will be eligible to return in Vancouver’s season finale against Portland Timbers on October 28 at BC Place.

The Independent Panel consists of one representative from the United States Soccer Federation, one representative from the Canadian Soccer Association, and one representative nominated by the Professional Referee Organization.

Each club is entitled to two unsuccessful appeals per season, including playoffs. Since the appeal made was unsuccessful, the ‘Caps have one remaining unsuccessful appeal for any future dismissals in the 2018 season.
