Whitecaps FC announce 2019 MLS regular season schedule

2019 Schedule

VANCOUVER, BC â€“ Highlighted by Cascadia Cup home fixtures in March and May, an all-Canadian tilt prior to the Concacaf Gold Cup break, and four of the last five games at BC Place, Whitecaps FC unveiled their 2019 regular season schedule on Monday. 


Led by new head coach Marc Dos Santos, Whitecaps FC will open the 2019 MLS season at home against Minnesota United FC on March 2 at 3 p.m. PT. Tickets for the season opener are available as part of the 2019 Home Opener Pack, which feature two tickets and a scarf for $90, or four tickets and two scarves for $175. 



Vancouver's 34-match regular season will include a home and away game against each Western Conference team, and one match against Eastern Conference clubs, including a first-ever meeting with expansion side FC Cincinnati on August 3at Nippert Stadium and a visit from Wayne Rooney’s D.C. United on August 17 at BC Place


The season culminates with Decision Day, presented by AT&T, with all league matches kicking off simultaneously at 1 p.m. PT. The 'Caps host Western Conference rival Real Salt Lake at BC Place in the regular season finale. As part of a new fixed-bracket, single-elimination format, the Audi 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs will begin on October 19 and the 2019 MLS Cup is set for November 10.

CASCADIA CUP SCHEDULE


The 'Caps aim to recapture the Cascadia Cup when they face rivals Portland Timbers and Seattle Sounders FC twice each this season:


  • Whitecaps FC vs. Seattle Sounders FC: Saturday, March 30 at BC Place  
  • Whitecaps FC vs. Portland Timbers: Friday, May 10 at BC Place
  • Seattle Sounders FC vs. Whitecaps FC: Saturday, June 29 at CenturyLink Field 
  • Portland Timbers vs. Whitecaps FC: Saturday, August 10 at Providence Park


COMMUNITY MATCH NIGHTS

Whitecaps FC support community partners through a variety of events and initiatives each year. Below are some of the key dates during the upcoming season:


  • Jeans Day, in support of BC Children's Hospital Foundation: Saturday, April 27 vs. Philadelphia Union
  • Pride Night: Saturday, May 25 vs. FC Dallas  
  • Legends & Stars Charity Match: Saturday, September 14 vs. Houston Dynamo  


HOLIDAY WEEKEND MATCHES
For the fifth time in the last seven years, Whitecaps FC play at BC Place on Labour Day long weekend, this year hosting New York City FC on Saturday, August 31.
Whitecaps FC travel on four holiday weekend road trips in 2019:

  • Victoria Day weekend: Saturday, May 18 at Sporting Kansas City  
  • Canada Day weekend: Saturday, June 29 at Seattle Sounders FC

HOME KICKOFF TIMES

The 'Caps home schedule has 12evening matches with 7 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. kickoff times, including the three Friday and two Wednesday fixtures.Also, the home slate has fiveafternoon matches kicking off at 4 p.m. or earlier, including the home opener and the final two regular season home matches.


BROADCAST

All 34 of Vancouver's MLS matches will be broadcast on the TSN network and the TSN GO app, including two matches on CTV â€“ Canada's most-watched television network. In addition, TSN Radio Vancouver will broadcast all Whitecaps FC matches with a one-hour pre and one-hour post-match show.


CONCACAF GOLD CUP BREAK

The MLS schedule will include a break for the opening week of the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup, with no teams playing between June 14 through 21.The Gold Cup group stage takes place from June 15 through June 26, and the knockout stage will be played from June 29 through July 7. Whitecaps FC will not play during any of the official FIFA international matchday windows.


CANADIAN CHAMPIONSHIP

The schedule for the 2019 Canadian Championship will be announced at a later date.
