Development Squad open road schedule with 2-2 draw versus USL side Tacoma Defiance

TUKWILA, WA
– The Whitecaps FC Development Squad played their first road match of their 2019 schedule on Saturday, coming away with a hard fought 2-2 draw against Seattle Sounders FC’s USL affiliate Tacoma Defiance.
Head coach Nick Dasovic fielded several guest players and Academy call-ups with a number of regulars away at preseason with the first team in Los Angeles, and others with the U-17 Academy team at the Generation adidas Cup.
Centre back Connor Guilherme – who captained the side – scored on 30 minutes. Guilherme has signed on with the 'Caps U-23 team from the University of British Columbia. Guilherme also previously played with TSS Rovers FC in the PDL.
Late in the first half, Tacoma were awarded a penalty kick. Goalkeeper

saved the initial shot, but Tacoma pounced on the rebound to level the match at 1-1.
Tacoma then took a 2-1 lead, but striker

equalized for the ‘Caps in the 63rd minute on an assist from U-19 Academy defender

Both sides agreed to play an extra 15 minutes at the end of the match, but no more goals would be scored as the result ended 2-2.
