He’s arrived.

Alex “Exraa” Gonzalez, Vancouver Whitecaps FC’s official eSports gamer, made a run to the semifinals in his first official eMLS competition Friday in Philadelphia.

After going 9W-2L-1D in the qualifying rounds of eMLS League Series One on Thursday, finishing second out of 25 gamers across the league, Exraa continued his hot streak on Friday with a 2-1 win over LAFC in the quarterfinals.

Exraa, the second youngest player in the competition at 18 years old, then fell on penalties to the eventual champion from FC Cincinnati in a wild semifinal.

League Series One was the first of three eMLS tournaments that will take place in 2020, followed by League Series Two in February and eMLS Cup in March.

Exraa, who spent some time playing youth soccer in the Whitecaps FC BMO Saskatchewan Academy Centre, is one of five newcomers to eMLS in 2020, including Superbowl-winning running back and Philadelphia Union representative Jay Ajayi.
