Whitecaps FC girls take on Cascadia rivals Seattle Reign and Portland Thorns

The Whitecaps FC Girls Elite REX U-14 and U-16 teams, in partnership with BC Soccer, were introduced to the Cascadia rivalry this past weekend as they travelled to face their academy counterparts from Seattle Reign FC and Portland Thorns.


"The girls were excellent," said head coach Chris Sargeant. "We played very well against top opposition. I was really happy with their level of competitiveness and how they went about it. We're very proud of them."

The 'Caps swept the Seattle sides on Saturday with the U-14s winning 7-0 and the U-16s taking a 1-0 victory on a goal from Olyvia Hleuka.

On Sunday the U-14s fell 3-1 in a good battle versus the Thorns, while the U-16s earned a 3-2 result on goals from Olivia Ahern, Katrina Demetillo, and Tara Krsmanovic.
