Exraa dominates his way to first FIFA Global Series championship

VANCOUVER, BC – Alex “Exraa” Gonzalez has officially marked himself as a contender for best FIFA 21 player on the planet.

The 19-year-old ‘Caps team member barnstormed his way to the Xbox championship title on Sunday in dominating fashion during the FIFA 21 Global Series North American Qualifier 1.

The result earned him a $5,000 USD prize and provides him valuable points towards qualification for the North American Regional Playoffs, and eventually the 2021 FIFAe World Cup. The North American Qualifier 2 event will take place on February 6 and 7.

“We are very proud to see Exraa represent the club so well and win this prestigious FIFA Global Series event,” said Tyler Wilson, Whitecaps FC eSports team general manager. “We know how hard he works to perfect his craft, and the best is still yet to come.”

Starting in the lower bracket, he roared to a 6-0 aggregate win over 2020 eMLS League Series One and League Series Two champion Fiddle from FC Cincinnati.

In his next match-up he won 6-3 over Mexico’s Henry from Essentials Gaming. The semifinals could not stop him either, a 5-1 aggregate win over Brazilian Gustavo from KRÜ Esports to reach the Grand Final.

With New York City FC’s Squirrel standing in his way, Exraa still could not be held back. As the lower seed he needed to beat Squirrel in two aggregate match-ups to earn the championship, while Squirrel needed one aggregate win to take the title. A 4-3 aggregate victory for Exraa in the first match-up paved the way for the finale. An astounding 11-3 aggregate finish then officially crowned him champion in a flawless performance that will be talked about among FIFA players from around the world for weeks to come.

“This proves that I’m still here, I’m not going anywhere,” said Exraa on the broadcast after his victory.
