Canada draw 0-0 with Haiti in second Olympic qualifying match

Canada played to a 0-0 draw against Haiti n their second match of Olympic qualifying in Guadalajara, Mexico on Monday.


Four Whitecaps FC players started the match. Derek Cornelius captained the team again at centre back, and three Whitecaps FC BMO Academy System products played in front of him: Michael Baldisimo and Patrick Metcalfe in midfield, and Theo Bair at striker. David Norman, another ‘Caps academy product, started alongside Cornelius at centre back. Ryan Raposo subbed on in the second half.


The Red & White had several opportunities to find the back of the net in either half, but could not break the deadlock. Goalkeeper James Pantemis also made a number of good saves to keep Canada level. 

The result puts Canada tied for first place in Group B with Honduras on four points. They will need a win over Honduras in their final group match on Thursday to finish first in the group.
