VANCOUVER, BC – Major League Soccer announced on Monday that Vancouver Whitecaps FC defender Tristan Blackmon has been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday 11 after the 'Caps 2-1 home victory over Real Salt Lake.
Blackmon earns his team-high third of the season (Matchday 4, Matchday 7), after scoring his third goal across all competitions and the eventual gamewinner. The 28-year-old, who scored his first home goal for the club since March 2023, also added five clearances, two interceptions, two recoveries, and 97% passing accuracy in the win as the 'Caps extended their club-record unbeaten run to 10 matches across all competitions.
Nine different Whitecaps FC members have been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday this season. In addition to Blackmon, head coach Jesper Sørensen (Matchday 4, Matchday 8) defenders Édier Ocampo (Matchday 9) and Mathías Laborda (Matchday 3), midfielders Pedro Vite (Matchday 1, Matchday 10), Sebastian Berhalter (Matchday 4), and forwards Jayden Nelson (Matchday 1), Emmanuel Sabbi (Matchday 8), and Brian White (Matchday 2, Matchday 8) have also earned selections to the Team of the Matchday.
