Canada opened the Olympics with a spirited 1-1 draw against hosts Japan on Wednesday.
In her 300th international appearance, Christine Sinclair scored in a fourth Olympics to get Canada on the board first. Stephanie Labbe later saved a penalty kick before being subbed out due to injury, and Japan equalized late.
Next up for Canada is a match on Saturday against Chile.
