'Caps Chronicle - Aug 11

VANCOUVER WHITECAPS FC IN THE NEWS:
After a busy week the ‘Caps now head east for a match against D.C. United on Saturday afternoon. The good news appears to be continuing as Whitecaps FC may have their captain Jay Demerit back while midfielder John Thorrington is likely to earn more minutes (Bruce Constantineau – Vancouver Sun).

After making his return against his former team in Whitecaps FC’s 4-2 victory over Chicago Fire, Thorrington continues to build endurance after missing most of the 2011 MLS campaign so far (Martin McMahon – MLSsoccer.com).

Before Whitecaps FC match-up against D.C. United, some ‘Caps players participated in a training session with some athletes headed to the 2011 Homeless World Cup in Paris. Jeb Brovsky called the experience "inspiring" (Bruce Constantineau – Vancouver Sun), while one member of the homeless team said that she was  "touched that these guys took time out of their day to do this" (Matt Kieltyka – Metro Vancouver).

With Whitecaps FC goalkeeper Jay Nolly leading the squad in goal in the 4-2 victory over Chicago Fire last Sunday, Soehn has been keeping his cards close to his heart about the starter for the ‘Caps upcoming road match-up against D.C. United (Terry Bell – The Province).
