Coquitlam Metro Ford Soccer Club (CMFSC) have emerged as one of the largest and most successful youth clubs in Western Canada with an impressive technical staff that includes former 'Caps Sara Maglio, Dale Mitchell, Phebe Trotman and Alfredo Valente.
One week ago, whitecapsfc.com were invited to participate in the first ever CMFSC annual awards gala and help celebrate their success during the 2010-11 season.
To kick off the evening, CTV sports director and host for the evening, Perry Solkowski was joined on stage by Whitecaps FC club ambassador Carl Valentine, 'Caps newest first team signing and Residency grad Bryce Alderson, and Canadian international and former Whitecaps FC women's midfielder Brittany Timko for a Q&A. Carl, as well as Elite Girls manager & assistant head coach Carrie Taylor also helped with presenting the awards.
A number of Whitecaps FC Residency players have recently come through CMFSC and were recognized throughout the evening. In addition, former Whitecaps and 86ers midfielder David Norman was honoured for over two decades of coaching, while William Azzi received the Lifetime Achievement award.
