Colin's Keys to the Match vs. Minnesota

Colin Miller's Keys to the Match

Tune in on matchdays for a one hour pre-match show and one hour post-match show as Colin Miller and Corey Basso call the action live on AM730.

Saturday's pre-match show kicks off at 6 p.m. PT at whitecapsfc.com/am730.

Here are Colin’s keys for the match versus Minnesota United FC.

Stop crosses into the box

Minnesota are very dangerous on crosses.

We have seen that throughout the season from them, even on the winning goal in the first meeting between these teams in Minnesota earlier this year.

The 'Caps must stop crosses into the box. That means that the fullbacks will need to stay tighter to prevent those balls coming in.

Comeback kings

The Loons have developed a bit of a reputation as comeback kings.

That was the case in each of their last two matches, coming back to win at home versus Portland, and coming back twice to draw at LAFC on Wednesday.

If the 'Caps go ahead they will need to keep their work rate and discipline. Minnesota have lost only once in their past 11 matches, including their first win of the season when they last played the 'Caps.

Keep delivering the goods

Speaking of reputations, Déiber Caicedo and Cristian Dájome are starting to build theirs throughout MLS.

They have been dangerous and creative, and other teams are taking notice.

Now they need to keep delivering the goods with goals and assists.
