VANCOUVER, BC – Canada Soccer confirmed Friday that Vancouver Whitecaps FC midfielder Liam Mackenzie, Whitecaps FC 2 (WFC2) defender/midfielder Sahil Deo, and Vancouver Whitecaps FC BMO Academy defender Anyole Peter, have all be called up to represent Canada’s U-20 squad in the June international window.

Les Rouge will compete in the prestigious 2026 Maurice Revello Tournament, formerly known as Toulon Tournament, marking an important preparation opportunity ahead of this summer’s 2026 Concacaf U-20 Championship. That competition will be held in Mexico from July 24 to August 9, and will serve as qualification for the 2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup™ and the 2028 Summer Olympics Men’s Football Tournament. Canada has been drawn into Group C alongside Honduras, Panama, and Jamaica.

Canada has been drawn into Group B of this tournament, which takes place across the south of France, and will face Venezuela on June 1, Japan on June 6, Ivory Coast on June 8, and finally Portugal on June 11. The winners of Group A and B will compete in the Final on June 13 and runners-up in each group will compete for third place.

This call-up marks Mackenzie’s second with the U-20 squad, having also represented the nation at the U-17 and U-15 levels. The 19-year-old midfielder most recently joined Les Rouge in March for Concacaf U-20 Qualifying in Nicaragua. Mackenzie started in all four matches, registering two goals and two assists across the tournament and wore the captain armband for two matches. Mackenzie is the second Vancouver Whitecaps FC first team player to be called up during this international window, following Rayan Elloumi who is representing Tunisia in the 2026 FIFA Men's World Cup.

So far in the 2026 MLS NEXT Pro season, Mackenzie has started in all eight of his matches played and has already registered a career-high five goals. Most recently, Mackenzie was recalled up to the ‘Caps first team for their match against Houston Dynamo FC where he was an unused substitute.

Deo, 18, has been called up to Canada’s U-20 team three times now, most recently also representing Canada at Concacaf U-20 Qualifying with Mackenzie in March. In that tournament, the product of Port Coquitlam started in two of his three appearances. Deo has also represented Les Rouge at the U-17 and U-15 levels.

This year marks Deo’s third season with WFC2 in MLS NEXT Pro, and his first on a professional contract. This season he has started in seven of his nine appearances and has registered one assist.

Today’s announcement marks the second call-up to the U-20 squad for Peter, having previously been represented his country at Concacaf U-20 Qualifying in March. Peter, 18, played in all four of Canada’s matches, starting in three of them, and registered a total of 285 minutes played. The Whitecaps FC BMO Academy product has also been called up to play with WFC2 five times so far in the 2026 season and has earned one start.
