Rivals

As opponents, they have previously faced each other 35 times across the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, DFL-Supercup, and UEFA Champions League. Müller's Bayern Munich sides lead that series heavily at 22W-8L-5D.

The last time that they faced each other was on November 4, 2023 - a 4-0 win for Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga.

In total during their careers, Müller captured 13 Bundesliga titles, six DFP-Pokal titles, eight DFL-Supercup titles, and two UEFA Champions League titles - among others.

Reus and Dortmund won two DFB-Pokal titles, and three DFL-Supercup titles.

Perhaps the most famous encounter came in the 2012-13 UEFA Champions League final. Both players started at the 10 position for their respective sides and played the full 90 minutes, with Bayern ultimately winning 2-1 at the famed Wembley Stadium in London, England.

Teammates

Müller and Reus shared the pitch together 32 times for the senior German national team, going 17W-8L-7D, including UEFA Euro 2012 and the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Reus was also originally named to the ultimately victorious 2014 FIFA World Cup team, but was forced to withdraw before the tournament due to injury.

As teammates, they officially combined for only one goal together, the eighth goal by Müller, assisted by Reus, in a 9-0 victory over Liechtenstein on November 11, 2021.

Will Müller continue to have the upper hand on his compatriot? Watch on Saturday, 7:30 p.m. PT on Apple TV.
