VANCOUVER, BC – This summer, two global superstars arrived in MLS as German legend Thomas Müller came to Vancouver Whitecaps FC, and South Korean icon Son Heung-Min went to Los Angeles FC.
Saturday, November 22 could be the 13th time the two will face one another in their careers, in an MLS Western Conference Semifinal. The highly-anticipated match will kick off at 6:30 p.m. PT, live around the world on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV, as well as on radio on 730 CKNW and CKNW.com.
Here is how the head-to-head has gone so far.
While their clubs have faced one another a total of 14 times since 2011, there have been 12 matches where both of them have played in the Bundesliga, UEFA Champions League, Friendly matches, and in the FIFA World Cup.

The most recent friendly match came on August 10, 2024 in a 3-2 win for Müller's Bayern Munich and Son's Tottenham Hotspurs, with the Raumdeuter finding the back of the net.
However in official competition, the last meeting where both of them played was on December 11, 2019, as Müller scored the winning goal from an Alphonso Davies rebound in a 3-1 win for Bayern over Tottenham in a UEFA Champions League group stage match at Allianz Arena.
Müller would go on to lift his second UEFA Champions League title with Bayern at the end of the tournament.
The first meeting, in which both of them played, came on August 20, 2011 in the Bundesliga as 21-year-old Müller's Bayern Munich defeated 19-year-old Son's Hamburger SV 5-0.
Son has only one victory in this head-to-head, and it came at the 2018 FIFA World Cup. South Korea shocked Germany 2-0, with Son scoring into an empty net for the second of two Korea goals in stoppage time to knock the Germans out at the group stage.
