VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC confirmed on Saturday wing back Javain Brown has been called up to the Jamaican men's national team for upcoming 2022 Concacaf Nations League matches and an international friendly against Uruguay in June.

Brown, 23, will be joining his national team for a total of four matches, starting with a pair of Nations League clashes against Suriname on Saturday, June 4 at Flora Stadium in Paramaribo, Suriname and on Tuesday, June 7 at National Stadium Independence Park in Kingston, Jamaica. The side will then face Uruguay in an international friendly on Saturday, June 11 at Estadio Centenario in Montevideo, Uruguay before wrapping up the international window with a Nations League match against Mexico on Tuesday, June 14 at National Stadium Independence Park in Kingston, Jamaica.

Brown will join up with Jamaica following the 'Caps away match against Sporting Kansas City on May 28 and return to Vancouver ahead of the club's trip to Texas to face FC Dallas on June 18.

A Kingston native, the 2021 MLS SuperDraft selection was called up to Jamaica's final World Cup Qualifying round back in March and April, starting matches against El Salvador and Canada. In total, Brown has represented his country at the senior international level 14 times since making his debut for Jamaica against Trinidad & Tobago in 2017. After joining the national team program at the U-17 level, he made five appearances for the U-20 national team and four appearances at the U-23 level, including three matches at the 2019 Pan American Games in Peru.

So far this season, Brown has made nine starts and 14 appearances across all competitions in 2022, showing his versatility by being deployed as a wing back or a centre back on either side of the pitch.

The defender out of the University of South Florida recorded five assists in 20 starts and 27 appearances across all competitions during his first season with Whitecaps FC and was rewarded with a new contract through the 2024 MLS season, with a club option for 2025, back in January.

All-time, Brown has tallied six assists in 29 starts and 41 appearances for the 'Caps across two seasons.
