League1 BC: Women extend winning streak with 3-0 victory

KAMLOOPS, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC Girls Elite recorded a 3-0 victory against League1 BC side Rivers FC at Hillside Stadium this Sunday afternoon.

The young ‘Caps began the first half by scoring the opening goal of the game in the 12th minute, as Ava Wright placed a cut through pass to Jaime Perrault on the left side of the field, her quick one timed strike inside the area found the back of the net.

Right before the end of the first half, forward Anna Hauer found herself on an opportunity inside the box, as her strike was saved in the 45th minute of the match.

As the second half started, ‘Caps winger Ashley Roberts carried the ball into the final third, her strong shot was parried away by Rivers FC goalkeeper Aliyah Fowler in the 56th minute.

Following a corner opportunity crossed in from team captain Olivia Ahern in the 62nd minute, Hauer’s goal doubled her squad’s lead as the Blue & White continued to press forward with their momentum in the second half.

Moments later, Rivers FC were awarded a free kick outside the box, the ensuing strike from Caylah Lemon was then held off by ‘Caps goalkeeper Bella Lister in the 74th minute.

As the match progressed, Megin Turi fed a ball to substitute Kierra Blundell, her cut move led to the Blue & White forward extending the lead in added time, with her strike flying into the top corner of the netting making it 3-0 as the final blew whistle thereafter.
