Friday night’s match versus Toronto FC will be a special one for all members of The Village, as we celebrate the 40th anniversary of the 1979 NASL Soccer Bowl Championship. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. PT at BC Place and
tickets are still available.

Fans are encouraged to dress up in their best throwback 70s attire. Get your grooviest get-up on.
BE IN YOUR SEATS EARLY
Friday’s pre-match will be one that you won’t want to miss, so be in your seat by 7 p.m. sharp.
16 members of the 1979 team
will be recognized in a special ceremony on the field, coming in through a tunnel formed by 40 fans who supported the team during their 1979 championship season. To cap off the festivities, former head coach Tony Waiters will be inducted into the Whitecaps FC Ring of Honour.
POST-MATCH MINGLER AT THE BC SPORTS HALL OF FAME
With net proceeds benefitting Jumpstart, fans are invited to meet and mingle with members of the 1979 team after the match from 9:30 to 11:30 p.m. PT at the BC Sports Hall of Fame. Tickets are available at

Kevin Hector, Willie Johnston, and Ray Lewington will be at the Bell Box on Terry Fox Plaza signing autographs from 6:00 to 6:30 p.m. PT. Early Bird specials will also be available on the patio starting at 5:30 until 6:45 p.m. PT.
