It will also mark the second and final regular season meeting this year, with the 'Caps and LAFC drawing 1-1 back in August 2026. All-time, the 'Caps and Los Angeles FC share a record of 7W-12L-8D across all competitions.

WEEKLY STORYLINES
LIFE ON THE ROAD: Western Conference leaders Vancouver Whitecaps FC are set to head to California to face rivals LAFC this Saturday in another key matchup at the top of the West. Afterwards, the 'Caps will continue their five-game away stretch with an extended road trip featuring matches against St. Louis City SC on October 14 and Austin FC on October 17. They will then finalize the away stretch against Colorado Rapids on October 24, and close out the month with a home match against San Diego FC on October 28. With the ‘Caps sitting at the top of the Western Conference with 50 points, road swing will play a key role in the final push of the MLS regular season.
WHITE WOLF: Brian White continues to deliver in front of goal. The striker found the back of the net in the last home match against D.C. United, scoring for a fourth consecutive MLS match and setting a new career high with 17 MLS regular season goals in 2026. White leads the ‘Caps with 18 goals across all competitions this season and has reached 97 in his Whitecaps FC career, putting him just three away from becoming the first player to score 100 goals for the club in the MLS era. The forward also sits four goals behind Lionel Messi in the MLS Golden Boot race.
AIR MATHÍ: One positive from the 'Caps last match at Chicago Fire FC was the team's strength off set pieces, which was rewarded with a thumping finish by Mathías Laborda to pull back a goal in the second half, courtesy of a fourth assist of the season for Oliver Larraz. Laborda, who scored his fourth goal of the season, is now up to 13 career goals with the 'Caps. The Uruguayan defender is only two away from equalling former captain Kendall Waston for the highest-scoring defender in the club's MLS era, with the Costa Rican international tallying 15 goals with Vancouver.
BACK FROM INTERNATIONAL DUTY: The ‘Caps will welcome back several players following a busy September-October international window. Seven players represented their respective countries, with Ralph Priso featuring in both of Canada’s victories against Chile and Peru and Andrés Cubas starting Paraguay’s wins over Bolivia and Colombia. Édier Ocampo also reached a milestone during the window, earning his first senior cap for Colombia with a start against Paraguay, while Rayan Elloumi, Mihail Gherasimencov, Yadaly Diaby, and WFC2 defender Micaah Garnette all saw action for their respective national teams. With the international window now wrapped up, the group turns its attention back to club action and the final stretch of the MLS regular season.
CANADIAN CONNECTIONS: Saturday’s matchup will feature a strong Canadian presence, with 12 Canadian players across the two squads. The ‘Caps feature nine Canadians in Isaac Boehmer, Sam Adekugbe, Jeevan Badwal, Rayan Elloumi, Mihail Gherasimencov, Belal Halbouni, Kwasi Poku, Ralph Priso, and Johnny Selemani, while LAFC’s Canadian contingent includes Thomas Hasal, Mathieu Choinière, and Jacob Shaffelburg. Choinière and Shaffelburg both featured for Canada during the September-October international window, while Priso represented the ‘Caps with the national team, starting in victories over Chile and Peru.
