WEEKLY STORYLINES

'CAPS TAKE ON VERDE: Through 13 matchdays of MLS regular season action, Vancouver Whitecaps FC continue to lead the MLS Supporters' Shield and Western Conference standings thanks to a club-record 8W-1L-3D start to the season. The 27 point tally, under head coach Jesper Sørensen, is a league-record amongst first-year coaches. The 'Caps are now set to hit the road for a pair of Western Conference showdowns, starting with a visit to Austin FC on Saturday, May 17. The match will mark the second meeting of the season between the two teams, as the Blue and White dismantled the Verde and Black last month with a 5-1 victory at BC Place, which saw Brian White record the first four-goal performance in the club's MLS era.

THE BRIAN WHITE REIGN: Scoring goals cause he is dynamite, it's what he does. In the 'Caps 2-2 draw with LAFC on Sunday Night Soccer, presented by Continental Tire, Brian White continued to show his prowess as one of the league's most lethal strikers, scoring a brace to bring his season tally to 13 goals across all competitions. And we're only in May. After Matchday 12, White’s two goals earned him a spot on the MLS Team of the Matchday for the third time this season, brought him level in the league's golden boot race with eight goals, and saw him reach 96 career goals for club and country. The fifth-year 'Caps forward, who's best goal scoring season with the club came in 2023 (20 goals, four assists), continues to sit as the highest-scoring North American in MLS play since 2021 with 56 goals.

ROLL 'CAPS: Over the last five weeks, the Blue and White have put together a club-record 11-game unbeaten run across all competitions (6W-0L-5D). It's a run that's seen them punch their ticket to their first-ever Concacaf Champions Cup Final, while maintaining their league-leading position in MLS play and scoring 22 goals in the process. In fact, Vancouver is also etching closer to another record as a win or draw at Austin FC will see the 'Caps reach eight games unbeaten, which would equal their second-longest streak in MLS play, first done back in April-June 2014. The club's longest MLS unbeaten streak is 10 games and that was achieved back in July-September 2021.
