VANCOUVER, BC ā Major League Soccer announced on Monday that Vancouver Whitecaps FC striker Brian White has been named to the MLS Team of Matchday 12 after his two-goal performance in a 2-2 comeback draw against Los Angeles FC at BC Place. The 'Caps are now unbeaten in 11 matches in all competitions.
White earns his third selection of the season (Matchday 2, Matchday 8) after scoring two header goals in the Sunday Night Soccer presented by Continental Tire match of the week. After going down 2-0, White scored his first in the 26th minute off of a long free kick from Sebastian Berhalter. Then, in the 70th minute, White bagged his second on a headed assist from Ali Ahmed.
The United States men's national team striker is now tied for the MLS lead with eight goals on the season, with a total of 13 goals scored in all competitions (8 MLS, 5 CCC).
Nine different Whitecaps FC members have been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday this season. In addition to White, head coach Jesper SĆørensen (Matchday 4, Matchday 8) defenders Tristan Blackmon, (Matchday 4, Matchday 7, Matchday 12), Ćdier Ocampo (Matchday 9) and MathĆas Laborda (Matchday 3), midfielders Pedro Vite (Matchday 1, Matchday 10) and Sebastian Berhalter (Matchday 4), and forwards Jayden Nelson (Matchday 1), Emmanuel Sabbi (Matchday 8), and Brian White (Matchday 2, Matchday 8) have also earned selections to the Team of the Matchday.

First up, the Blue & White are at Austin FC this coming Saturday, May 17 at 5:30 p.m. PT. Then on Tuesday, May 20, they are in Winnipeg to take on Valour FC in the first leg of the TELUS Canadian Championship quarterfinals. On Saturday, May 24, the 'Caps will play at Real Salt Lake at 6:30 p.m. PT.
