VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC forward Rayan Elloumi has been called up to Tunisia's U-23 national team for their October international window. This marks the first time Elloumi has received a call-up to Tunisia's U-23 side.
The Eagles of Carthage will play a pair of friendly matches against Iraq's U-23 team this window, with the first match taking place on Saturday, October 11 and the second friendly set for Tuesday, October 14.
Elloumi will miss Whitecaps FC's MLS regular season away match against Orlando City SC on October 11.
A product of Edmonton, Alberta, Elloumi has started three of his eight appearances since signing a contract with the first team as a Homegrown player on September 12, becoming the eighth Whitecaps FC 2 (WFC2) MLS NEXT Pro player to join the first team. Elloumi started the year with the second team, making 11 starts in 18 appearances and recording 11 goals as well as seven assists.
The youngster then became the first 'Caps Homegrown to score on their home debut with his goal against Philadelphia Union on September 13. So far, the Canadian-Tunisian dual national has tallied two goals and an assist since joining the first team.
The forward originally joined the Whitecaps FC BMO Academy in August 2023 from BTB Soccer Academy in Edmonton. During his first year in Vancouver he competed at the MLS NEXT and League1 BC levels.
