Vancouver Whitecaps FC MLS Cup Playoffs return to BC Place on Sunday, November 5 at 4:30 p.m. PT

VANCOUVER, BC – Whitecaps FC MLS Cup Playoffs Round One Best-of-3 Series against Los Angeles FC is set to kick off next weekend in Southern California before returning home to host the defending MLS Cup champions at BC Place on Sunday, November 5 at 4:30 p.m. PT. The two Western Conference foes played to an intense 1-1 draw on Saturday night in the regular season finale at BC Place in front of over 25,000 fans.

Every Round One game will have a winner; no ties, no aggregate score. If a match is tied at the end of regulation, no extra time will be played. Teams will participate in kicks from the penalty spot to determine the winner. The first team to win two matches will advance.

Whitecaps FC enter the playoffs after finishing in sixth place in the Western Conference with 48 points and a regular season record of 12W-10L-12D, while LAFC finished in third with 52 points and a record of 14W-10L-10D.

The ’Caps have already faced LAFC four times this year. Vancouver took the regular season series with a 3-2 win in Los Angeles on June 24, and a 1-1 draw at BC Place to end the regular season on October 21. In Concacaf Champions League play, LAFC advanced past the ‘Caps over two legs in the quarterfinal round.

Vancouver’s all-time record against LAFC includes five wins, six defeats and four draws. This will be the first time that Whitecaps FC and LAFC meet in the MLS Cup Playoffs.

The winner of this series will play the winner of second place Seattle Sounders FC and seventh place FC Dallas in the Western Conference Semifinals, following the FIFA international window, on November 25 or 26. The MLS Cup Playoffs Conference Finals will take place on December 2 or 3 and MLS Cup on December 9.
