WEEKLY STORYLINES

DO OR DIE: Vancouver Whitecaps FC will look to tie up their MLS Cup Playoffs Round One Best-of-3 Series on Sunday as they host Los Angeles FC at BC Place in the second match. Despite dropping the first game at BMO Stadium last Saturday, the 'Caps showed promising signs in the first half as they recorded two big chances, eight shots, and 22 successful duels, while Brian White and Sam Adekugbe found the net. With a win on Sunday, Vancouver will force a third and final match in the series, which would take place next Thursday, November 9 in Los Angeles.

MAKING HOME COUNT: The 'Caps have been one of the most dominant home sides in the league over the past three seasons. Since returning to BC Place in August 2021, the Blue and White are tied for the third-most MLS regular season home wins with 25, only two behind Philadelphia Union and LAFC for the league-lead. Brian White has scored a team-high 21 goals across all competitions in home matches since then, while Ryan Gauld sits closely behind him with 18. This season, the 'Caps have posted a 10W-4L-8D record across all competitions at BC Place, scoring 45 goals.

CANADIAN 'CAPS: The 'Caps newest Canadian trio of Sam Adekugbe, Junior Hoilett, and Richie Laryea have been key pieces for head coach Vanni Sartini since arriving in Vancouver this summer. Adekugbe is fresh off of scoring his first 'Caps goal, Hoilett has appeared in every match since making his debut for the club on September 20, while Laryea has made 13 consecutive starts since joining the club, scoring a goal and adding three assists.
