It was a lopsided evening for Vancouver Whitecaps FC Residency teams in the United States Soccer Development Academy (USSDA) against Crossfire Premier at Interbay Stadium in Seattle, Washington. The U-18 squad were snapped out of their eight-match winning streak with a 4-0, while the U-16 team grabbed a fifth straight win with a 4-1 victory.
U-18
The U-18 'Caps were stunned on Thursday as they suffered a 4-0 defeat amidst a frustrating and hard fought affair against Crossfire Premier.
Vancouver found themselves creating an even amount of chances in the match but were unable to hold off an aggressive attack from the home side. Frustration eventually set in, as striker Carlos Marquez was sent off following a challenge with the opposing goalkeeper, along with two Crossfire players as well.
“It was a disappointing result and performance tonight,” Whitecaps FC assistant technical director and head coach Craig Dalrymple told whitecapsfc.com. “We lost to a playoff wildcard team that had a lot to gain and we simply didn’t match their intensity, it will have to go down as a humbling result.”

U-16
The U-16 Residency team picked up where they left off in league play with a convincing 4-1 victory over Crossfire Premier U-16 in the late Thursday evening match.
First half exchanges were very close between the two squads as Mitch Piraux opened the scoring in the on 17minutes. Crossfire found their answer in the 35th minute to bring the score level late in the first half. Following a sending off in the 50th minute, the floodgates opened for Vancouver with goals from Sadi Jalali at the penalty spot, a great piece of individual skill from Matthew Chow, and then capped off with Sebastian Cabrera’s breakaway strike in the 80th.
“Crossfire came out and traded goals with us right away, lots of chances were created against the run of play and we could have maybe put more in” Dalrymple explained to whitecapsfc.com after the match. “We asked the team to be smarter with possession and dig deep for the result in the second half and they executed that well for the win.”
