"There is no doubt that the Cascadia spirit and rivalry is truly back and that, once again, our fans helped to inspire a spirited and entertaining performance from our team," said Whitecaps FC chief executive officer Paul Barber.
Over 500 Whitecaps FC supporters made the drive down Interstate 5 for the first-ever Major League Soccer regular season meeting between Whitecaps FC and Sounders FC, and all 36,502 fans were treated to an instant Cascadia classic that ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw.
"We were delighted so many Whitecaps FC fans made the trip south and were decked out in Whitecaps jerseys, caps, t-shirts, and flags," added Barber. "On behalf of everyone at the club, I'd like to thank our fans for making the club's first MLS trip to Qwest Field such a memorable occasion, and also thank the Sounders FC staff for looking after everyone so well."
