So dust off your old boom box, or grab your parent’s ghetto blaster from the crawlspace because it’s time to kick out the jams…
“Beverly Hills” – Weezer
('Caps head to Los Angeles)
Last season was the year of the Galaxy, as the star-studded Los Angeles squad dominated the league by winning the Supporters Shield and the MLS Cup. Now the 'Caps head to California to see if they can hang with the high rollers when they take on David Beckham, Robbie Keane, Landon Donovan and the rest of the Galacticos. Make sure to tune in to TSN at 7 p.m. PT this Saturday, June 23, to see how the script unfolds.
“Change Clothes” – Jay-Z ft. Pharrell
(Whitecaps third kit)
It seems arbutus brown is a lucky colour for Whitecaps FC after battling their way to victory while a man down against Colorado on June 16. The ‘Caps will be wearing the exciting third kit on at least two more occasions this season. You can grab all your third kit gear at the special kiosk at BC Place until June 24, as well as on match day at the stadium or online HERE!
"I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" – The Proclaimers
(Designated Player Barry Robson)
The most anticipated addition to the ‘Caps roster this summer is Designated Player Barry Robson. With the summer transfer window opening in just a few weeks on June 27, Robson could be available to play as early as July 4 against Colorado. While he may not have walked 500 miles from the UK, the Scottish international still came a very long way, so let’s do our best to make him feel welcome here in Vancouver.
“The Boys are Back in Town” – Thin Lizzy
(LA Galaxy at BC Place – July 18th)
After a month away, the 'Caps will finally return to the friendly confines of BC Place on July 18. Mark your calendar now because the reigning MLS Cup champions will make their first appearance at BC Place. Making the day even more significant will be that it will be the first home match that new Designated Player Barry Robson will be eligible to play in to help the ‘Caps leave the Galaxy seeing stars. To get in the mood for the occasion we turn to Thin Lizzy, who like star Galaxy striker Robbie Keane, hail from Dublin, Ireland.
“All Star” – Smash Mouth
(2012 MLS All-Star Game – July 25, 2012 at PPL Park in Chester PA)
Speaking of stars, the stars of MLS will be out in full force when they take on UEFA Champions League winners Chelsea F.C. in Philadelphia. So be sure to cast your ballot HERE if you’d like to see some of the members of Whitecaps FC on the All-Star roster!
“Got To Be Real” – Cheryl Lynn
(Real Salt Lake at BC Place – August 11)
Western Conference table-toppers Real Salt Lake make their lone appearance at BC Place on August 11th. With this year’s unbalanced schedule, Whitecaps FC will play two regular season matches in Salt Lake City and only one at home, so lets give the team a show of support like never before for this important match.
"We've Only Just Begun" – The Carpenters
(Cascadia Cup home matches – vs. Seattle Sept. 29, vs. Portland Oct. 27)
There’s never a more electric atmosphere at BC Place than for a Pacific Northwest derby match! Probably the best games of all to bring that friend who’s yet to come out to a match at BC Place - it's almost guaranteed they’ll be a fan for life afterwards. With earlier matches for Vancouver against Seattle and Portland both ending as draws, the ‘Caps will be looking to pull ahead of their Cascadian rivals with a little extra help from the support of the fans.
