WATCH: MOMinate winner Laurie Hodd receives full beauty makeover from Kimberly Caldwell

MOMinate makeover

Laurie Hodd and her daughter Emily Russell won Whitecaps FC's first-ever MOMinate Mother's Day contest. They both received a full beauty makeover (see video) from Kimberly Caldwell, fiancee of Whitecaps FC defender Jordan Harvey, as well as a gift bag from Kim’s favourite haircair line, Thermafuse, a one-of-a-kind handmade leather handbag from her line Stage Presents, a KIND snack prize pack, a one-night stay at Hyatt Regency Vancouver with breakfast for two at Mosaic Restaurant, and last but not least, two tickets to a Whitecaps FC match at BC Place.

And as you can see from the winning submission from Emily, which received over 350 votes, Laurie was a well deserving recipient.

“My mother Laurie Hodd, deserves the ultimate prize pack and makeover because she is one of the strongest and the most loving person I know.

Unfortunately for the last 3 years she has been battling with cancer. I have always shared a very special bond with my mom and I am proud to call her my best friend. Although she may not currently have any hair owing to chemotherapy (again), feeling beautiful on the outside means a lot to her because she doesn't always feel beautiful on the inside.

This year’s Mother’s Day is an important one because we may not have another one together. I have always been a fan of the Whitecaps and know that my mom has always wanted to attend a game at BC Place with me. This would be a happy and shared memory for my mother and I. Many thanks for considering my MOMination.”
