VANCOUVER, BC - Vancouver Whitecaps FC confirmed on Tuesday that 23-year-old defender/midfielder Brett Levis underwent successful surgery this morning to repair an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear in his right knee.
“We’re happy to hear the surgery went well and fully anticipate Brett will be back training with the group at the start of summer,” said Whitecaps FC head coach Carl Robinson.
Levis suffered the injury in Vancouver’s Major League Soccer regular season finale, his MLS debut, on October 23.
The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan native signed an MLS contract on August 23 and made five official first team appearances this year. In addition to his regular season appearance, Levis started three of his four CONCACAF Champions League appearances, helping Vancouver advance to the quarterfinals as the top seed with a perfect 4W-0L-0D record.
In United Soccer League play, Levis started 24 regular matches, scored four goals and added two assists, and started all three of the USL Cup Playoff matches with Whitecaps FC 2. The University of Saskatchewan product first joined the club in 2014 as a member of the Whitecaps FC U-23 USL Premier Development League side.
