Cristian Techera has been voted the Whitecaps FC Player of the Month for June, presented by Coldwell Banker, after earning 75 per cent of the votes in a poll conducted on Twitter this week.
“The Bug” recorded two goals and two assists in the month of June, including a 30-yard-free kick that earned an MLS Goal of the Week nomination, contributing towards four of Vancouver’s six goals. He also led the team in chances created and touches and was voted Vancouver’s man of the match against both FC Dallas and Minnesota United FC.
YOUTH PLAYER OF THE MONTH, PRESENTED BY COLDWELL BANKER
The Whitecaps FC Youth Player of the Month is striker Jose Hernandez – an Edmonton product who played a key role in helping Vancouver’s U-16 Residency side advance to the quarterfinals with four goals in three playoff matches.
“Jose took the initiative and led the team with goals over the playoff week,” said Whitecaps FC U-16 Residency head coach Adam Day. “He and Jefferson Alade were instrumental in our progress into post-season play. His work rate and decisive finishing made the difference.”
