Gloucester Hornets partnership

VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced today the appointment of James Parry as Ottawa Gloucester Academy Centre head coach.

Parry will oversee and lead the partnership with the Ottawa Gloucester Hornets and provide services to the club, acting as the club’s technical director. Parry replaces previous head coach Joel Moody who has returned to England for personal reasons.

“We’re really pleased to be able to provide someone of the quality of James to head our partnership with the Ottawa Gloucester Hornets and lead our Academy Centre programs in Ottawa,” said Dan Lenarduzzi, Whitecaps FC director of soccer development. “We plan to take our partnership with Gloucester to the next level and we believe that James is the person to do that.”

Parry joins Whitecaps FC and Ottawa Gloucester Hornets from northern Wales, where he built his resume, including working with Llandudno FC as an academy development coach. He holds a UEFA B licence as well as a Football Association of Wales License, a Coerver Coaching Youth Diploma, and a Master of Science in Sports Coaching from the University of South Wales.

Parry, as part of the partnership with Whitecaps FC, will manage all technical programs and coach development for the Ottawa Gloucester Hornets. This will include providing guidance on building a three to five year vision for the club, as well as delivering hands-on coaching and mentorship to develop age-appropriate technical programs that will benefit all Hornet players and coaches.

Supporting Parry will be current Gloucester Hornets assistant technical director Jay Da Costa.

Alongside the technical services being provided to the Hornets, Parry will build complementary programs through the Whitecaps FC Ottawa Gloucester Academy Centre, including a Future ‘Caps U-5 to U-8 program, a U-9 to U-12 Pre-Prospects program, and a Prospects U-13 to U-17 travel program. Whitecaps FC summer camps will also be offered.

Parry will start immediately, helping to launch the Whitecaps FC Gloucester Academy Winter phase now beginning, with limited remaining space available.
