Kei Kamara earns MLS Team of the Week honours after leading 'Caps to historic win

Kei Kamara - MLS TOTW

Vancouver Whitecaps FC striker Kei Kamara has been named to the MLS Team of the Week after leading the ‘Caps to their first-ever road win vs. Houston Dynamo on Saturday.

It was a momentous occasion for Kamara, who was playing in his 300th MLS match. And he rose to the occasion, scoring his 100th MLS regular season goal on a 28th-minute penalty before setting up Brek Shea for the game-winner in the 49th minute.

Kamara, the 10th player in league history to score 100 regular season goals and the second all-time leader among active players, has now found the back of the net in each of Vancouver’s first two matches of the 2018 season.

Whitecaps FC goalkeeper Stefan Marinovic also made the MLS Team of the Week bench after turning in a six-save performance, including a pair of highlight-reel stops in the second half.

The ‘Caps are back on the road Saturday against Atlanta United (4:30 p.m. PT on TSN2) before returning to BC Place to host LA Galaxy on Saturday, March 24 (7 p.m. PT – tickets still available).
