Vancouver Whitecaps FC striker Yordy Reyna was awarded Week 16’s MLS Goal of the Week with his free kick snipe last Saturday against Colorado Rapids.

It was Reyna’s second goal of the season after coming back from a hamstring injury he sustained in April. The stunner of a goal surprised even Rapids goalkeeper Tim Howard, as Reyna blasted the free kick over the wall, clipping the near post and finding the back of the net.

Reyna’s goal took the cake with 26% of the votes, followed by another free kick contender from Aleksandar Katai who finished with 21%.

The Peruvian doubled down and found the back of the net for the second time in two matches against FC Dallas on Wednesday night. He now has three goals and one assist so far this season.

His performances saw him named to the FIFA 19 Ultimate Team of the Week by EA SPORTS.

Reyna and the ‘Caps now match up against Cascadia rivals Seattle Sounders FC this Saturday, June 29 at CenturyLink Field. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. with all the action on TSN1 and TSN 1410 Radio.
