International 'Caps: Cornelius strong in shutout, Adnan shines, Hwang and Reyna appear

VANCOUVER, BC - It was a historic evening at BMO Field on Tuesday as the Canada men's national team won against the United States, their first international A victory over their rivals since 1985.


Whitecaps FC centre back Derek Cornelius put forth a full shift in the 2-0 shutout, while former 'Caps Homegrown player Alphonso Davies tallied the game-winner midway through the second half. Maxime Crepeau and Russell Teibert were on the bench and Doneil Henry was unavailable serving a one-match suspension.


Canada sit atop Group A of Concacaf Nations League A, and the two sides are set to meet again on November 15 at Exploria Stadium in Orlando, Florida.


Adnan produces in Iraq World Cup qualifiers wins

Ali Adnan featured prominently for the Iraq men's national team in a pair of FIFA World Cup qualifying wins this past week. The 'Caps left back came off the bench to slot in a penalty kick goal in the 79th minute, sealing a 2-0 home victory over Hong Kong on October 10. Adnan then made the start five days later in their visit to Cambodia, assisting on the second goal in the 4-0 win.


Hwang gets start in rivalry match versus North Korea

Korea Republic resumed World Cup qualifying competition this month, trouncing Sri Lanka at home 8-0 on October 10. Inbeom Hwang started and played 65 minutes in the following fixture on October 15, a scoreless draw across the border against rivals Democratic People's Republic of Korea.


Reyna comes off the bench for Peru in away-and-home friendlies against Uruguay

Yordy Reyna was back with the Peru men's national team, making a pair of substitute appearances in an away-and-home friendly series versus Uruguay. Peru lost 1-0 at Estadio Centenario on October 11, then drew 1-1 in the home leg at Estadio Nacional on October 15.
