Canada has cracked the top six in Concacaf in the latest FIFA World Rankings.

After a historic 2-0 win over the U.S. men’s national team earlier this month, Canada gained 17 ranking points and moved into sixth place in Concacaf – and 69th overall.

If Canada is able to remain within the top six in Concacaf after the June international window, they will advance to the Hex, which is the final round of qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Canada hasn’t qualified for the Hex since 1998.

Next up for the Red and White is another tilt with the U.S., this time on the road, on November 15 in Orlando. Four Whitecaps FC players were called up to Canada for the home leg: goalkeeper Maxime Crepeau, defenders Derek Cornelius and Doneil Henry, and midfielder Russell Teibert, with Cornelius playing the full 90 minutes in the centre of defence.
