VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC midfielder Simon Colyn is set to join Dutch club PSV Eindhoven on a 10-day training stint with their youth teams beginning this Saturday, November 23.
“This is a good opportunity for Simon to receive additional experience,” said Whitecaps FC sporting director Axel Schuster. “This will be a different challenge for Simon both on and off the pitch, and ultimately it will help further his development.”
Colyn, 17, joined the Whitecaps FC Academy in 2016 and was signed to the first team in April 2018. The native of Langley, BC made his MLS debut at the end of the 2018 regular season and spent the majority of 2019 training with the first team will playing games with the Development Squad and the U-19 side.
A dual citizen of Canada and the Netherlands, Colyn also featured at the 2019 Concacaf U-17 Championship where he entered PSV’s radar, scoring a goal in four starts and five appearances for Canada.
