Mock draft roundup: Who might the 'Caps select on Thursday?

mock draft - 2020

Who will it be?

On the eve of the 2020 MLS SuperDraft, let's take a quick look to see who the pundits have Vancouver Whitecaps FC selecting with the fourth overall pick. The first round of Thursday’s draft will be streamed live on whitecapsfc.com, beginning at 9:30 a.m. PT.

MLSSoccer.com v2.0: Henry Kessler (CB, Virgina)
“A big centre back that could see minutes right away for Vancouver, Kessler seems like a lock to go in the top five. Ryan Raposo’s a possibility here as well should the 'Caps be impressed with the Canadian goal-scoring midfielder.”

Soccer By Ives: Daryl Dike (F, Virgina)
“The Whitecaps don’t have a big need for a striker like Dike, but his value is too high not to select him or trade the pick to a team that wants him. Vancouver will be hoping Maher or Nealis slide, but if they don’t, look for a deal here and move down where taking someone like Dayonn Harris would make sense.”

Top Drawer Soccer v2.0: Henry Kessler (CB, Virgina)
“Centre back may not be a dire need for the Whitecaps, but the combination of roster flexibility afforded by a Generation adidas addition and Kessler's potential to contribute sooner, rather than later makes him a candidate to go here.”

Draft Utopia: Ryan Raposo (M, Syracuse)
“The Whitecaps get the best player on the board at 4. The 5-7 142 lb Ryan Raposo is now the sixth consecutive Syracuse player to receive a Generation adidas offer dating back to 2015. Raposo made the ACC All Freshman team in 2018 when he had 4 goals, 7 assists, and 15 points. Raposo had 15 goals, 7 assists, and 37 points as a sophomore in 2019. Raposo matched his assists from his freshman season and showed major improvement in goal scoring. Raposo can play left wing, attacking midfielder, right wing, or be used as a playmaker. Raposo has the speed, dribbling, technique, grit, and determination to make a difference at the next level.”
