Get to know - Cava

Get to know new Vancouver Whitecaps FC striker Lucas Cavallini ahead of his first MLS match!

Who was your favourite soccer player growing up?
There are a lot. In my position, I liked Tevez and Suarez. Growing up, it was the Brazilian Ronaldo, for sure.

If you weren’t a soccer player, what do you think you would be?
A UFC fighter.

What’s the website or app you visit the most?
Maybe Farfetch!

Who’s your celebrity lookalike?
I’ve got a few that people have said, but I don’t really see it! One person said Maluma. Not even close. Another was an Argentinian soccer player, German Denis. Apparently his nickname was El Tanque too. Peopled said I looked like him.

What does “El Tanque” mean to you?
Somebody who won’t stop 90 minutes. You’ve got a brick wall in front of me, I’m just going right through it. So centre backs, always keep an eye open.

What’s the biggest challenge you’ve had to go through?
Probably leaving Canada when I was 16 years old, going to Uruguay. Big change, not having the resources you did as a kid. But for soccer, you do anything.

What are you most proud of?
Probably my present moment in life. Having three kids. Having a family. Having a lot of people admire me, going through different countries and always leaving on a good note.

What’s your fondest memory?
Soccer wise, probably beating the U.S. Off the pitch, having my children.

What song would you sing at karaoke?
Probably Shallow. Good song!

Who do you look up to?
Professional footballers, like Messi and Suarez, who make all this money, have all this hype around them, but still keep a low profile off the pitch. That’s good to see in somebody.
