MATCH STORYLINES

Keep building: The 'Caps hope to build on their opening match that saw three attacking players in the XI make their MLS debut, and a centre back pairing, both age 22, start together for the first time. Newcomer David Milinković got off to a fast start, attacking on the left wing and assisting on Jake Nerwinski's first goal at BC Place and second in his MLS career.

Matchup at striker: New high-profile strikers Lucas Cavallini and Chicharito each look to open their MLS account in Week 2. Cristian Pavón presents another threat for LA Galaxy, having scored or assisted in his last nine league appearances, including a golazo in Week 1 versus Houston Dynamo.

At training this week: Central midfielders Leonard Owusu, who arrived in Vancouver late last week and Janio Bikel, who can also play right back, were both involved in training this week and could be options on Saturday.

Instant classic: The 'Caps return to LA after winning a 4-3 barnburner at Dignity Health Sports Park last September. Inbeom Hwang tallied a club-record tying three assists, including on the added-time winner. Jasser Khmiri made his Whitecaps FC debut, tallying 19 clearances, most in a single regular season match by any MLS player in over two years. Theo Bair and Tosaint Ricketts, along with former 'Caps defender Doneil Henry each scored, marking the first time three Canadian teammates scored in the same match in MLS history (Elias Sports Bureau).
