Vancouver Whitecaps FC have added Twitter accounts in six new languages:
- Farsi - @WFC_Farsi
- German - @WFC_German
- Italian - @WFC_Italian
- Japanese - @WFC_Japanese
- Punjabi - @WFC_Punjabi
- Serbian - @WFC_Serbian
The new additions bring the club’s multilingual reach to 16 total languages, joining:
- English (primary) - @WhitecapsFC
- Arabic - @WFC_Arabic
- Chinese - @WFC_Chinese
- French - @WFC_French
- Korean - @WFC_Korean
- Polish - @WFC_Polish
- Portuguese - @WFC_Portuguese
- Russian - @WFC_Russian
- Spanish - @WFC_Spanish
- Tagalog - @WFC_Tagalog
The accounts are each assisted by Whitecaps FC supporters and fans, uniting under the umbrella of the club.
Vancouver field a truly international MLS roster, highlighted by 14 different birth countries – Canada (14), Colombia (2), United States of America (2), Argentina, Australia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, France, Ghana, Guinea-Bissau, Iraq, Peru, Serbia, South Korea, and Tunisia. Among players and coaches, no less than a dozen languages are spoken.
The club has incorporated the multilingual diversity of the city and team in this year’s Join the Wave marketing campaign, displaying ads around Vancouver in a variety of languages.
