VANCOUVER, BC - Vancouver Whitecaps FC confirmed on Wednesday that due to two inconclusive COVID-19 Polymerase Chain Reaction (“PCR”) test results requiring follow up, the club’s chartered flight to the 2020 MLS is Back Tournament in Florida was postponed today. All subsequent test results are now confirmed to be negative and the club is working on rescheduling the flight.

“It is paramount we make certain all precautions are taken and as a result we postponed today’s flight and the entire travelling party will be tested again tomorrow,” said Axel Schuster, Whitecaps FC chief executive officer and sporting director. “Throughout this pandemic, we have had daily communication with the provincial public health officer, local health authorities, infectious disease experts, and the league to ensure the safety of our players, staff, and community.”

Since the club began voluntary individual training sessions on May 12, the 'Caps have followed MLS health and safety guidelines, including proper physical distancing and sanitization during individual workouts, small group training sessions and full-team training sessions.

To date, no member of the club has tested positive for COVID-19.
