VANCOUVER, BC - Whitecaps FC confirmed on Wednesday that centre back Ranko Veselinović has been called up to the Serbian men's national team for a pair of friendlies this month.
This marks the first senior call-up for the 21-year old native of Novi Sad.
Serbia face Dominican Republic in Santo Domingo on January 25, then go up against the United States in Orlando on January 31.
The national team is in the midst of preparations for World Cup qualifiers commencing in March, where they are grouped with Azerbaijan, Luxembourg, Portugal, and Ireland.

Veselinović made 16 starts in 18 league appearances in his first year in MLS. He finished tied for third across MLS with 22 blocks, and in the top 20 with 78 clearances.
Previously, Veselinović has represented his country at the U-16, U-17, U-18, U-19, and U-21 levels.
