With soccer coaching and community-based education, the Whitecaps FC School Program helps students become leaders on and off the pitch.
Introduction to soccer
Through 30 minute on-site coaching sessions, our dedicated team of Whitecaps FC coaches helps students develop physical literacy, sportsmanship, teamwork, respect for others, and appreciation for an active lifestyle.
Clinics focus on core soccer skill development, including ball control, passing, dribbling and shooting. Every student is equipped with soccer drills to practice at home, with family members encouraged to join.
Community leadership
Whitecaps FC provides every school with a learning resource package to facilitate student discussion on important community topics, including mental health, physical wellness, anti-bullying, anti-racism, and Indigenous learning. The content of each package is aligned with BC School Curriculum guidelines.
Each learning resource package will contain:
· Video of Whitecaps FC players and staff discussing a community topic
· List of additional resources students can access in their communities, such as books, websites, programs and support centres
· List of discussion questions and activities to help teachers facilitate a continual learning environment
