Account Specialist, Sales Representative

On the pitch, Whitecaps FC is steeped in North American history, dating back to 1974. After finally making the jump to MLS in 2011, our club has found success year over year. Breaking club point records every season, continuing the tradition of lifting the Cascadia Cup, winning our first-ever Canadian Championship, and finally bringing the MLS Cup playoffs to BC Place.

The Whitecaps FC mission is to be a champion club on and off the soccer pitch. To help reach this objective, the club is looking for qualified and passionate individuals to fill the role of Account Specialist, Sales Representative.

This is an entry level, full-time position for up to a one year term with the opportunity for promotion to the position of Account Executive, Sales.

How you will contribute:

  • Help grow our supporter base by identifying and facilitating new ticket sales
  • Generate ticket sales revenue through lead generation and qualifying prospects
  • Generate contacts through both inside and outside sales networking opportunities
  • Develop and maintain relationships through excellent customer service 
  • Communicate and carry out service policies and procedures to Season Ticket Holders in the most professional manner
  • Participate in our Account Specialist, Sales & Service Training Program
  • Maintain computerized records of all clients and prospects via ticketing software
  • Assist with Game day duties and provide support during special events and promotions,

What are we looking for:

  • Self-motivated with a positive friendly attitude
  • Previous sales and/or service experience an asset but not necessary as training is provided
  • Diploma or degree preferred, but combination education/experience will be considered
  • High degree of professionalism
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills (multi-tasking a must!)
  • Superior communication skills, both written and oral
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Because working during games and special events is expected, you must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays

Coordinator, Grassroots Marketing & Community

General Overview:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Events, the Coordinator, Grassroots Marketing & Community will be the primary operator of the club’s Fan Development Vehicle and will work on a variety of Event & Community department initiatives.

Specific Responsibilities include:

  1. Fan development vehicle (FDV)
  • Assist with developing the operations plan for the new Fan Development Vehicle to launch in Summer 2018
  • Determine which events the FDV will attend and participate in
  • Manage the overall schedule for the FDV
  • Develop programs unique to the Fan Development Vehicle including, but not limited to, partner activations, community programs, etc…
  • Assist in monitoring and tracking the number of qualified leads being generated through the FDV and determine new ways of generating and increasing the number of leads
  • Order promo materials to be distributed via the FDV
  • Act as the primary driver of the FDV and attend all events where it is present
  • Keep track of inventory of all club elements that are stored in the vehicle, restock as needed
  • Maintain the upkeep of the vehicle and ensure that any necessary issues are addressed if they arise
  • Ensure that the vehicle is always securely parked and locked in the pre-determined parking location
  1. Promo Team
  • Assist with recruiting and interviewing Promo Team members
  • Develop a comprehensive plan for the Promo Team
  • Develop a training program for the Promo Team
  • Coordinate all HR elements related to the Promo Team
  • Manage the overall schedule and payroll for the Promo Team
  • Oversee the Promo team onsite during events
  1. Club Events
  • Assist in the planning and execution of certain Soccer Development programs
  • Assist in the planning and execution of certain Community programs and events such as #BuckUp for Mental Health, Legends & Stars match, Day of Giving, etc…
  1. ‘Caps Kickoff Lead on MLS Match Days
  • Act as the main liaison between ‘Caps Kickoff and the Events & Community team on match days
  • Assist in the setup and placement of activations
  • Ensure smooth operation and execution
  • Troubleshoot any issues
  • Manage the Promo Team onsite and the Fan Development Vehicle
  1. Other
  • Assist with player appearances as needed
  • Assist with department initiatives and projects as needed
  • Other related duties as required or assigned

Requirements:

  • 1 to 2 years of relevant experience is an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License is required

Internship, Practicum or Co-Op Placement Opportunity, Soccer Development

Vancouver Whitecaps FC is seeking a highly organized, self-motivated, professional to support our club’s youth programs within the Soccer Development Department.

Overview

This is a full-time internship from May through August 2018 with flexible hours and occasional weekends. You will report to the Programs Specialist, supporting the Soccer Development department inside the office and camps in the lower mainland. There you will gain event experience assisting running our summer camps, engaging with our coaches and interacting with our players and parents to help run successful camps and other Soccer Development events.

This position is also responsible for assisting and supporting department operations as required. This role requires full involvement prior to and during events outside of typical work hours.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lower Mainland Summer Camps
  • Check-in for players.
  • T-shirt distribution to players.
  • Player & Spike appearance coordination assistance as needed.
  • On-site set-up/take-down of signage, tents and equipment.
  • Serve as on-site liaison.
  • Skills Challenge Administrator – reporting.
  1. Lower Mainland Overnight Summer Camps
  • Pre-planning support.
  • Check-in for players.
  • Apparel distribution to players.
  • Laundry services as needed.
  • On-site set-up/take-down of signage, tents and equipment.
  • Serve as on-site liaison.
  1. BC/Provincial Camp Coordination
  • Transport players to and from the airport.
  • Transport visiting coaches as needed.
  • Assist with camp t-shirt ordering.
  • Assisting with shipping out t-shirts, camp items, apparel and equipment to different camps within Canada.

Qualifications:

  • Self-starter, motivated, and creative in problem solving.
  • Strong organizational background with strong prioritizing capabilities.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills.
  • Proficient with all Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Takes initiative and able to work with limited supervision at times.
  • Leadership experience in a team environment.
  • Ability to multi-task an asset.
  • Experience in grassroots sports/soccer an asset.

Requirements:

  • Enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary education program related to recreation.
  • Willing to work flexible hours, occasionally including weekends.
  • A valid driver’s license and vehicle is an asset.

Internship, Practicum or Co-Op Placement Opportunity, Business Intelligence & CRM

Vancouver Whitecaps FC is more than just a professional soccer club. We’re a community of like-minded individuals with a passion for excellence both on and off the pitch.

We believe that data is transforming the way sports organizations operate both from a business and a player performance perspective. That’s where you come in: the junior or entry level BI & CRM Intern looking to gain experience.

In this full-time internship running from January through April 2018, you’ll be supporting our Business Intelligence & CRM department. There you will gain exposure to everything from generating KPI data visualizations for our Executive team to player performance dashboards to support our Sports Science team. Reporting Structure

The Intern, BI & CRM position reports directly to the Manager, Business Intelligence at Whitecaps FC’s head office in Vancouver’s historic Gastown.

Responsibilities

  • Analytical support for the Business Intelligence department and research strategy, which encompasses all club departments and teams
  • Extract valuable information, including relationships, patterns, trends and projections from complex datasets
  • Identify actionable insights within datasets and provide business recommendations of observations
  • Assist with the design and development of customer segments and customer journeys
  • Generate reports which clearly visualize and summarize research findings
  • Acquire data from primary and secondary data sources
  • Create dashboards using BI/Visualization tools
  • Design, programming and execution of surveys and data collection
  • Completing other related duties as may be assigned

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary education program related to data analysis and visualization
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, SAS VA or MS Power BI an asset

Internship, Practicum or Co-Op Placement Opportunity, Partnership Marketing

Vancouver Whitecaps FCris seeking an outstanding achiever to provide assistance within our Partnership Marketing Department.

Overview

This is a full-time, 3 or 4 month unpaid internship. The position will provide an opportunity for a prospective marketing/sports marketing student to gain experience and insight into how a sponsorship department functions in a sports organization.

To succeed in this role, you are:

  • Able to effectively collaborate in a group setting, take direction and problem solve
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks at one time
  • Strong project management skills
  • Able to work under tight deadlines
  • Creative, energetic and team oriented
  • Able to work outside of standard business hours, including evenings and weekends.

  • Work with members of the partnership marketing department to:
  • Manage elements of how we deliver partner contracts, including broadcast, web, in-match and in community, as well as tracking delivery
  • Manage match day elements including pre, during and post-match.
  • Work with multiple departments to deliver various elements including events, appearances, etc. both partner driven and department driven.
