140+ university scouts and 110 teams in town for Whitecaps FC Showcase

On Friday, the sixth edition of the annual Whitecaps FC Showcase begins


In what has become Canada’s top professional club showcase and one of the largest events of its kind in North America, more than 140 university scouts will descend upon Surrey’s Newton Athletic Park to watch 110 elite U-15 to U-18 boys and girls teams from eight provinces across Canada, as well as teams from the United States, and even Brazil. In total, more than 2,000 players will be participating.



Recognizable NCAA schools will be present from every major Division I conference, including the Pac 12, Big 10, Big 12, ACC, SEC, and Ivy League. Representatives from the likes of Duke, Texas, Stanford, Notre Dame, Villanova, Oregon, Oregon State, Texas A&M, and LSU. From Canada, premier programs such as UBC, SFU, Trinity Western, UVic, and schools from every province come to evaluate talent.


In addition to university opportunities, Whitecaps FC staff are also on hand to scout for the club’s professional youth development pathways, the boys Residency and Girls Elite BC REX programs.

  • Whitecaps FC U-18 Residency vs. UBC Thunderbirds - 1 p.m. PT
  • Whitecaps FC Girls Elite BC Soccer REX vs. Whitecaps FC Alberta Soccer South REX - 3 p.m. PT


Sunday, April 16

  • Whitecaps FC Girls Elite BC Soccer REX vs. Portland Thorns - 12 p.m. PT
