Chituru Odunze 2019

Whitecaps FC Develoment Squad goalkeeper Chituru Odunze has received another call-up to the United States U-17 men's national team.

Odunze has been a consistent member of the U.S. U-17 squad, including a January camp in Lakewood Ranch, Florida, as well as at the Nike International Friendlies in December. Earlier this year Odunze spent a two-week trial at English Premier League club Leicester City FC.

The training camp will run from April 4-8, again in Lakewood Ranch, Florida. The event will serve as the team’s final gathering before it kicks off the 2019 Concacaf U-17 Championship on May 2 against Canada.

The training camp will take place ahead of next month’s U-17 World Cup qualifying tournament. The USA will face Canada, Barbados and Guatemala in the group stage of the 2019 Concacaf U-17 Championship, where the U-17s will aim to qualify for a record 17th World Cup at this age level.

Twenty-four of the 26 players headed to Lakewood Ranch have spent at least one season in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy. Twenty-two have played in the current 2018-19 season.

Players born on or after Jan. 1, 2002 are age-eligible for the 2019 Concacaf U-17 Championship. 24 players have been called up who were born in 2002, and two born in 2003.
