LANGLEY, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC Boys MLS Academy came up just short on Saturday in a 2-1 defeat at Unity FC.
The 'Caps looked like they opened the scoring in the 30th minute from a corner kick, but the play was called offside. Unity FC then scored just before halftime as the 'Caps went into the break down 1-0.
After Unity went up 2-0, the 'Caps cut it to 2-1 in the 67th minute as Luke Norman finished a cross from Thomas Raimbault.
Ben Alexander then came up big in the 84th minute with a penalty kick stop, but the 'Caps were unable to find an equalizer as the final whistle blew.
The 'Caps will end the regular season next Sunday, July 23 at Rivers FC in Kamloops. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. PT.
The League1 BC semifinals are then set to begin between July 28-29, with the 'Caps set to play on the road.
